The Residency Affairs Committee of the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry has recommended that all residency programs conform to the following classifications when developing program curricula:

Community Health Optometry
Cornea and Contact Lenses
Family Practice Optometry
Geriatric Optometry

Low Vision Rehabilitation

Ocular Disease

Pediatric Optometry

Primary Care

Refractive and Ocular Surgery

Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation

There are some programs that span two or more program classifications, in that, residents rotate through different types of clinical populations during the residency. These programs are listed in all classifications that apply.
