FAQs
| | The following is a list of various deadlines for residency candidates:
- Applicants should contact the programs of interest by January 15, 2009.
- Applicants must submit their application
to ORMS by February 1, 2009.
- Applicants should file their supporting documents with the desired
programs (not ORMS) by the deadlines set by the individual programs.
This includes:
Letters of reference
Letter of intent
Optometry School Transcripts
- Applicant's registration should be received by ORMS on or before February 1, 2009. Applications received after February 1st will be
assessed a late fee of $15 dollars, in addition to the usual registration
fee of $30 for the first five program choices included in your application.
For more than five program selections, there is a $10 per program surcharge.
All "late" applicants must obtain permission from individual sites in which
they are interested to apply late. No application will be accepted after
5 PM CST, March 1, 2009.
- Applicant's program ranking list must be received by ORMS no
later than 5 PM Central Standard Time (CST), March 6, 2009.
- Participants should check their e-mail account regularly as the deadlines
approach because ORMS may have need to contact individuals about the status
of their application or for new program listings. (If you are away
from school, then you may be able to use a computer in the office where you
are doing your externship or the public library near your location.)
Hotmail and other free e-mail services place a limit on the size of the
"inbox," and do not notify the sender if the limit is exceeded. This
may result in loss of messages! It is your responsibility to keep your
inbox under the limit, if you use such services.
All applicants and program supervisors will be notified of the results of the
matching process within seven days of the match. It is mandatory
that both applicants and program supervisors have valid e-mail addresses on file
with ORMS
